English for Nonnative Speakers: Overview
Two programs serve the needs of nonnative speakers of English at UAH: the Intensive English Program (IEP) and the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The IEP assists students in preparing for study at English-medium universities, such as UAH. The ESL program provides support in language development for students who have already entered UAH in undergraduate, graduate or non-degree programs.
Admission
Whether entering the IEP or the university, nonnative speakers of English must submit up-to-date TOEFL scores and certified copies of their high school and/or college transcripts. The TOEFL assesses the student's English language skills and is a necessary step in ensuring student access to the information in their chosen program or field. For more information on specific admissions requirements to the university or the Intensive English Program, go to the Application Menu on the UAH website.
