ESL Program: Class Requirements and Program Completion
Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students must achieve a C- or better in order to pass ESL courses. If they receive a grade lower than a C (70%), they will be given an NC (no credit) and will be required to repeat the course until they achieve a passing grade.

Undergraduate students who complete their assigned written ESL courses (ESL 103 and/or ESL 104) are free to begin the required Freshman Comp sequence (EH003, EH101, EH102). In order to determine in which EH course they should enroll first, they should contact the director of Freshman Composition through the English department at <eh@uah.edu> or 256-824-6320.
Graduate students

Graduate students must achieve a D or better in order to pass ESL courses. If they receive lower than a D (60%), they will be given an F and will be required to repeat the course until they achieve a passing grade.

Graduate students who successfully complete or waive assigned ESL courses have no other obligations regarding English language training.
