ESL Program: Registration

  1. University policy recommends that students begin fulfilling their ESL requirements immediately upon placement. To find current ESL course schedules, visit the schedule of classes for the appropriate semester on the UAH website. Find the appropriate semester and page down to the link: <ESL>.

  2. Choose the desired course or courses. Note: If you are placed in ESL 100, you must complete that course before attempting any of the other courses.

  3. You may combine courses from the oral/aural sequence with courses from the written sequence. However, you may not take two courses in the oral/aural sequence (101/102) or in the written sequence (103/104) simultaneously.

  4. For example, you may take a course from Column A and a course from Column B during the same semester. You may not take both classes from Column A in the same semester or both classes from Column B in the same semester.

  1. Please remember that ESL 101 is a prerequisite for ESL 102. Similarly, ESL 103 is a prerequisite for ESL 104. If you are placed in both 101 and 102, you must successfully complete or waive 101 before taking 102. Likewise, if placed in both 103 and 104, you must successfully complete or waive 103 before attempting 104.

  2. ESL courses are currently charged as regular academic courses. Students pay the appropriate tuition based on their status as undergraduate or graduate students. Visit the UAH bursar website for more information regarding current tuition rates.
